Dylan Cortez is a sophomore orchestra major at Las Vegas Academy of the Arts. Not only is he passionate about violin, but he’s as well passionate about bass, drums and music in general. Throughout his life he would notice, “cool bands playing different songs, and having all that different music exposed to me was pretty cool and I just wanted to do that myself,” said Cortez. This resulted in how he was inspired to start playing other instruments and being a part of a band. Throughout his entire music career, his greatest supporter has been his mother no matter his various musical endeavors.
Post-high school Cortez plans on continuing his passion in music, though, “I don’t think it would be on the forefront of my mind at all times,” said Cortez. Later in his life, “I would consider, like, oh let’s do this full time.”
Getting a deeper understanding of Dylan Cortez, I had discovered that his biggest fear in life is, “not accomplishing all the things that I want to accomplish.” As well as having his achievements taken away from him. But despite his fears, he identifies that his biggest accomplishment currently is attending LVA. He appreciates the education and other opportunities he’s offered just by the school itself.
Lastly, he presents what makes him happiest: his friends and the people he loves.
