When starting a new hobby, it can be difficult to find the right activity for you. Roller skating is an activity that has given me something to do since I was four years old. It’s super fun, and there are tons of things you can learn to do! Perhaps sports are your thing, and you enjoy fast-paced and full-contact sports. Roller derby could interest you. Instead of sports, you can enjoy the thrill of park skating. You can park skate and hit cool tricks on ramps with quad skates or rollerblades. Even if you aren’t into competitive things, you can skate around your neighborhood or park and enjoy skating at your own pace.

Like I said, I first got into skating when I was about four years old and it was really fun from the beginning. It gave me a creative outlet, and something to practice and learn. Soon after that, I joined a junior roller derby team and made new friends that helped me learn more and become better. Competing with other teams was so fun even if we didn’t win.

In June of this year, I started skating on an indoor ramp. It’s been four months since I started ramp skating and I’ve learned so much. For example, dropping in, getting over the spine, and doing a 360 off the coping. It’s been super fun and it’s given me a space to work off some steam or to just unwind. Not only that, it’s a good workout too!

If you want to try out skating, I would 100% recommend it. You can meet all sorts of people and make new friends, it’s a great experience for anyone.
