On September 19th, 2024 piano majors performed in Lowden Theater for their first performance of the year. Each student performed a piece of their choice in a duet or ensemble for parents, students, and even staff to hear.
On the day of the performance, the pianists were dressed professionally and looked very nice and clean for their concert. Performers played pieces from popular media. There were even songs performed that were from the movie, “Frozen.” Sophia Tang performed a song from, “My Neighbor Totoro,” “I think I did a pretty good job,” said Tang. The audience applauded after each performance, some standing to support the pianist.
It was clear that these pianists worked hard to perform and perfect these songs. Another player,
Sofia Goldberg, said she felt excited about her duet of “Slavonic Dance in G minor,” a piece she had practiced since mid-August.
Goldberg was just one of many talented pianists who played that night. She did a duet with another classmate of hers, Nathan Lanz. They played beautifully together receiving many cheers from the audience at the end of the performance.
Overall, according to the performers, the concert was a success. The piano department continues to develop their skills and will continue to showcase that talent in future performances.
