Roblox is a very popular platform for game hosting and development. In the past year, trending games have emerged on Roblox, such as Dress To Impress, which has over 2.8 billion plays, and Doors, which has over 5 billion plays.
Recently, a new game has been rising in popularity, Pressure.
Pressure is a multiplayer horror logic game set in an underwater facility. Players progress by entering doors that lead to new rooms, which may contain puzzles or keys to unlock. Randomly triggered monsters attack, and players learn survival tactics to reach the end.
I have been fascinated with Pressure for two reasons: Social media presence and the gameplay.
People have widely praised the game for its unique characters and story. The character, Sebastian, makes the game stand out due to the unique and relatively high-profile voice acting by Gianni Matragrano. Pressure also stands out for the unique story involving the environment, as it sprinkles a lot of lore throughout the game.
Regardless of the developer, the game has been regarded as an underwater version of Doors, another Roblox game with similar game mechanics. As someone who has played both, I can see the similarities. The developer, Zeal, isn’t shy about the inspiration, but the number of mechanics it uses is surprising.
After playing Pressure multiple times over a few weeks, I would rate it 7/10.
I find the characters very charming, and the style is unique, at least, and I still have fun. However, I feel it resembles Doors too closely. The basic gameplay, like room traversal, is almost identical to Doors. However, the small details expected to be unique, such as monsters and small mechanics are not. I also feel that my experience is dampened since the creator dipped into hot water with their opinions on adding deaf support on Discord and the mishandling of the situation, which has since been remedied.
When you’re in the waiting room for both Doors and Pressure you’re greeted by a shop. These shops have very similar items, and the monsters are super similar. Truthfully, I look for the little unique things in games, but Pressures only thing setting them apart is the unique environment and characters. But the mechanics are almost identical.
While I found it enjoyable, it certainly has some problems I, unfortunately, couldn’t overlook.
