Throughout the year, monthly showcases highlight the talents of the Visual Art students at Las Vegas Academy of the Arts (LVA). This article is the first addition of an ongoing series entitled “The Future of Visual Art,” covering new visual art developments each quarter at LVA.
The first student to have the spotlight is Gianna Barahona, a sophomore visual art major at LVA with a 4.0 GPA and a hard-working passion for good grades. Gianna has shown her dedication to LVA and a passion for her drawings. In her free time from schoolwork, she has also learned to play the piano, guitar, and sing. With her talents and good grades, she has demonstrated the grit that visual art students have.
Over the years, Gianna has put immense effort into doing what she loves, like playing the guitar and doing mixed martial arts. All while still keeping up with the demands of her arts studies at LVA. Gianna said, “Keeping up with my major, it’s cool but I have struggled with all the assignments.” Her own challenges demonstrate the amount of dedication it takes to not fall behind at LVA.
When asked what she most enjoyed about her major, Gianna said, “The thing I enjoy about my major is drawing and being able to talk and connect with people that have the same interests as me.”
LVA is a place full of students with passionate attitudes towards others as well as their education. They have shown that they have the resilience to keep up with the challenges that are given to them at LVA.
