The Vocal Electives Concert was shown in the lunchroom on November 1 and 2 at 6 p.m. The concert had vocal electives singing, acting, and dancing.
Junior Nevaeh Jackson, one of the concert performers, was interviewed about the event and what this show would be like, providing an inside view.
Jackson said, “We are doing a jazz concert, so it is all about Chicago The Musical, Rocky Horror Show, and All That Jazz.”
Chicago The Musical takes place in the 1920s. A woman wants to become a star, and gets that fame, not just because of talent, but also because of murder. She becomes famous all across Chicago.
“I am excited for All That Jazz, because it’s an entertaining number, and there are going to be a lot of jazzy things,” Jackson said.
Many people performed at this concert, and there were many different performances to enjoy. When asked if there was anything specific she was performing, Jackson said, “No, I think that concert focuses on group projects and festering soloists, but I think we are all just having a good time in our groups.”
On any occasion there are always things to prepare for that can be more complicated than others. There will always be something to keep you going.
“The hardest thing is to not get discouraged when there are rough days like choreography is not going as planned or we’re all really tired. So, the hardest part is to keep up your head and just stand tall,” she said.
All That Jazz is a musical presented in 1979 directed by Bob Fosse and starring Roy Scheider.
