A well-known club here at Las Vegas Academy of the Arts (LVA) is National Art Honor Society (NAHS). This club strives on a big sense of community and is open to all majors, not just art. It aims to help people as well as nourish minds with incredible and creative ideas. If you are interested in joining a club, NAHS should be your top choice.
Not only is this club a big part of the school, but it also encourages you to maintain high grades and accumulate great service hours you can use to demonstrate to colleges what kind of individual you are.
Some NAHS club members have shared their experiences and honest thoughts about the club. Maddie Morris, a member of the National Art Honor Society, discusses their community service and artistic activities. They have engaged in various projects, including painting on instruments for a gala, creating art for hospital and elderly home visits, and organizing an annual haunted house.
When asked if she noticed growth during her time in NAHS, Morris said, “Yes, I’ve noticed I’ve grown socially, I’m more extroverted than I used to be and I feel much more outgoing.”
Another club member, Eva Lisk, had many great things to say as well. She enjoyed participating in the society’s gala and creating items for a haunted house. She appreciated the opportunity to showcase her artwork to a broader audience. Lisk said, “I became more relaxed, less controlling over what I do and what I say, and with my artwork, I feel I’ve improved by incorporating more mediums into my artwork, besides it just being one thing.”
Ms. Mabel, who is in charge of NAHS, also had great things to say about her students and the work ethic they show in this club. “Everybody comes together, and there’s so many different personalities, and I love the fact that everybody works together all the time, no matter,” she said, noting the strong community and work ethic she has seen in her students throughout the years in NAHS. She mentioned that some of her favorite events are things like activities or dinners outside of school because it allows them to bond and come closer to each other as a community
If you are looking to join a club next year, NAHS is an excellent option. It offers a strong community of friends and the chance to build a strong work ethic. Joining NAHS might have some things that can interest you as many members have mentioned the gala and annual event they do is their favorite event of the year. The simple requirements for this club are to maintain a 3.0 GPA and have at least one art-related elective.
