From long dresses to pants from polka dots to stripes, how does the future of fashion look?
In 2024, we had trends like cargo pants, short shorts, mini skirts, fitted suits, and many other clothes. According to The Teen Mag, trending aesthetics were vintage, cottagecore, fairycore, gothcore, soft girl, Y2K, and many others.
According to Tarah-Lynn Saint-Elien and Lauren Adhav at Cosmopolitan, 2024 brought back trends from the 1990s and 2000s, including spaghetti straps, slip dresses, faux fur coats, and bucket hats. The Y2K trend from the 2000s included crop tops, mini skirts, low-rise jeans, mask sunglasses, and more.
Now that 2024 is over, 2025 is expected to have new trends and bring back old trends. The 70s are expecting to make a comeback this year, so low necklines, bohemian silhouettes, silks, open-toe heels, and polka dots. The new denim trend of this year will bring back skinny jeans. And this year, no matter what aesthetic you wear, Converse are making a comeback, all according to Jess Kelham-Hohler at Who What Wear.
Some of the trends we are bringing back are great, but others are not. The low necklines, open-toe heels, and polka dots are good and can be seen making a comeback soon. Skinny jeans are not popular among many people, because they tend to be more uncomfortable and tight. In addition to that, not many people wear them at all anymore: we have gotten used to baggy, loose, or bootcut jeans. I will be wearing my open-toed heels this summer. Overall, I look forward to hopefully seeing some sort of new trend this year for 2025.
