Madi Morris, a sophomore 2D visual design major, has an incredible passion for art that fuels her creativity. For her, art is more than just a hobby, it’s a sign of personal growth and self-expression.
“It’s this kind of drive that I have inside me. It’s the ability to set goals for myself and be a successful person in my life, really is what motivates me to create art.”
Morris’ inspiration comes from those who’ve mastered their craft, like surrealist artist Kristoffer Zetterstrand. “Kristoffer Zetterstrand is a wonderfully talented surrealist artist. I think his art is art varde safe, and I really love his style and the amount he’s able to create. I hope I am able to live up to that one day and create as many art pieces as he has.”
While Morris draws inspiration from surrealist artists, her personal artistic expression shines through realism. “I make self portraits, I really like to draw and paint myself how I am in real life. I’m able to represent myself through how I really look. Realism is the main style I stick to. It’s about being able to represent how I am in real life.”
Her artistic journey has been evolving since she was a child, reflecting her growth and changing perspectives. “When I was younger, I liked to draw animals and fun, fantastical things, but as I’ve grown older and seen how the world really is, I’ve transitioned into political art.”
Despite the shifts in her artistic journey, one constant remains: Her critical eye towards her work. “I beat myself up too much about my art, and I think other artists tend to as well. We should just take a step back and realize that we’re able to create all that we do with just our hands and talent.”
Madi Morris’ artistic journey shows the power of passion and perseverance. She continues to push her artistic boundaries while staying true to herself and her style. Her dedication and passion serves as a remainder that art isn’t just about the end product, but the personal expression and growth it creates.
