“Bluetech City” (also known as “Bluetech Park”) was an infrastructure project that debuted its plans on July 19, 2019.
The supposed “digital revolution,” was introduced to have an ultra-luxury and sustainable residential area with futuristic office facilities, retail space, exotic pool environment, and state of the art entertainment.
“It will serve as a haven of future-forward inspiration for established and emerging technologies, harvesting the power of IoT, renewable energies, and robotics unlike any existing project in the world,” said PR Newswire.
The $7.5 billion “mini-city” project was planned to redefine Las Vegas’ skyline, guiding the world into an era of hyper-tech and sustainability.
Delaware real estate investment company, Bleutech Park Properties, Inc. released that they had secured 210 acres of land south of the Strip in November of 2019.
Bluetech City and its representatives had not gone without controversy.
“According to a Clark County spokesperson, Bluetech has yet to file any paperwork with the county’s planning and zoning departments as of Wednesday, Nov. 6,” said News 3 Las Vegas.
While the project was expected to begin construction in December of 2019, investigation had unveiled a dubious past of one of the tech park’s backers, Janet Garcia (formerly LeGrand).
Garcia (Legrand at the time) had been involved in a previous mega-project in Florida, where she allegedly defrauded the Miami-Dade city. Which provided her company with a $33.3 million contract.
As December passed and the project had yet to break ground, the county and its citizens began to be skeptical.
On December 30, 2019, Tom Letizia, campaign manager for former mayors Oscar and Carolyn Goodman, sued Garcia for not honoring his agency’s contract and refusing to pay him the agreed-upon wages.
The previously secured land of 210 acres had not been closed until January of 2020.
Letizia still had faith in Bluetech Park and what the project entailed.
“Bleutech Park has had meeting with planning and building officials regarding this project…We are working with our team of architects and engineers to submit application to the Clark County next month,” he said to News 3 Las Vegas.
Janet Garcia has yet to submit a statement regarding Bluetech City or the lawsuit with Tom Letizia, and construction has remained at a standstill.
