Ann Jeffery is a teacher at Las Vegas Academy who teaches Japanese I, II, and III along with AP Japanese & Culture.
After high school, Jeffery enrolled in Brigham University in Provo, Utah and played in a marching band for 5 years. She was the leader of the band and played the flute and had the chance to go to bowl games.
Although she had many accomplishments, Jeffery had a hard time with stress when she was younger. As she got older she learned that those factors of stress are not that important in the long term, and she wished to advise her younger self to relax more, and not overthink.
Currently, she is a Japanese language teacher who has the passion to guide others to learn more about Japanese language and culture. She encourages students to have more of a love of Japan, and she hopes this love extends beyond anime and games to the Japanese people and more aspects of their culture.
One challenge she faces in her career is the student who isn’t actually interested in learning the language. This can cause difficulties such as them not paying attention or not putting enough effort into their work. So, introducing them to the language can be a challenge as a teacher.
As an introvert, Jeffery is quieter than most, including in her classroom interactions. She is also a “go with the flow” person when it comes to talking with people, believing that being hard-headed leads to exhaustion from fighting.
Despite the challenges she went through in her life, she has had many accomplishments and completed goals, especially as a teacher helping students develop a love for learning the Japanese language and culture.
