Cadence St. Onge, a sophomore majoring in 2D visual design at Las Vegas Academy of the Arts, discovered her passion for art as a child. She spent countless hours drawing and creating, unaware it would lead to a serious commitment to art. Despite not taking art classes in middle school, a decision once viewed as a mistake led her to seek out more advanced art classes outside of school, which significantly improved her skills. “ It pushed me to seek out better art classes outside of school, which really helped me improve,” St. Onge explained.
A memorable moment for St. Onge’s artistic journey was getting accepted into Las Vegas Academy of the Arts. “I didn’t think I’d get in, but when I did, it was amazing,“ she recalled. This accomplishment reinforced her commitment to pursuing her passion for art.
Art isn’t just a hobby for St. Onge; it’s a form of self-expression. “I express my thoughts and ideas through my artwork, offering a perspective on everything and everyone,” she shared. This keen insight into the world fuels her creativity and drive.
When St. Onge faces situations beyond control, it has taught her to stay calm and focused. “I try to think about what I can do to fix things,” she said. Looking to the future, she dreams of becoming a tattoo artist. “In ten years, I see myself working in a tattoo parlor, a goal I’ve always had,” she revealed.
St. Onge plans on continuing her art studies in college, aiming to attend a school and focusing on art. “ I definitely plan to continue the arts when I get to college because I feel it’s for me and I really enjoy it,” she said. Although undecided about her major, she is considering illustration, studio arts, or fine arts.
Reflecting on her journey, St. Onge wished she had started taking art classes earlier to further her skills. “ I would probably start taking classes earlier so I could be even better than I am now,” she noted.
As St. Onge continues on her artistic path, the passion for art remains the guiding force. With determination and creativity, she is well on her way to turning her dreams into reality.
