Lily Yeh is a freshman harp player, who went from hating the harp to loving it later on in life.
“I played the violin when I was four, because that’s what my parents made me, but I’ve always liked the harp, how it looks. I don’t know. I always thought it was pretty. I got it because it was pretty, and I lowkey hated it at first. I did not want anything to do with it. But I locked in seventh grade, and that’s when I got into it, you know. And also I started I like how it works as well. Other people thought it was cool. So I was, like, you know, maybe it is cool.”
Yeh also shared her experience with playing the harp at LVA and all of the opportunities she has with her instrument.
“The harp has affected my life in a very good way, because I started when I was 8 years old, and now, after hours of practicing, I think it’s given me a lot of opportunities, especially this year, freshman year, getting on to 04 I got to do a lot of cool stuff this year. I go to play in a lot of concerts this year, and this is my first year playing with the middle orchestra, which really helped me get my skills up. And I got to do a lot of cool events, like Beauty and the Beast. And I went to also play Carnegie Hall this year, which helped me experience that.”
While Yeh may not have liked the harp at first, she grew to enjoy it and is now a wonderful harp player at LVA. Growing right beside her harp Yeh learns new things and performs amazingly at shows.
