Just like everyone else, Anette Kleeberg-Heske, makes mistakes, but her take on how she deals with them may be a little bit different then most. Ms. Anette is a registered life coach who also volunteers her time to put on circus camp for a group of young boys and girls wanting to pursue acting or just have a fun time with their peers.
The goal of these acting camps is to not only give the kids a practice area, but also to give them a safe time and place to learn about themselves. Ms. Anette gives her educated advice to the children to help them learn important life skills that they may not be used to.
Sadie Toth, one of her students, was asked what her favorite part of working with Ms. Anette was, she said “She’s really included me, especially in times where I have felt left out or that I didn’t belong. She just knows when you have something going on, she just recognizes you.” Sadie’s view about Miss Anette was also reflected by her family and the other volunteers of the show.
Sadie specifically brought up Anette’s ability to cope with making mistakes, saying that she has made her feel more open to admitting when she has messed up. “Ms. Annette has made it easier for me to ask for help from others, it’s ok to make mistakes, and that they are happy accidents,” said Sadie. During a recent production of the Wizard of Oz, Sadie mentioned a notable mistake that Anette made, and the way she handled it. “When we were doing a production of the Wizard of Oz she messed up and drew a big line down one of our backdrops. Although it was frustrating she made a point to say that it just added depth and then continued on and accepted her mistake.
Ms. Anette also spoke on her own ability to deal with mistakes. Stating that the best mistake she ever made was also while painting. “I painted a little shelf in the first apartment that I had rented by myself, I did it outside and I had splashed some paint on my bike. That bike was stolen several times, and it always found its way back to me because it was my painted bike. It was blue and white and nobody in the entire town had the same bike, and although people kept stealing it, it always found its way back.”
Anette Kleeberg-Heske actively impacts the lives of many kids by offering her kind and passionate personality, while also providing her teaching and acting skills. The mistakes she made may live with her forever, but she will never regret them.
