In late September, artist Kid Cudi announced the release of his newest album titled “INSANO”, set to release in January 2024. “INSANO” marks Cudi’s ninth studio album and was produced under Wicked Awesome Records, which was founded by Cudi in 2011. Cudi’s release of his romance/comedy movie “Entergalactic”, and the album that tagged along was a huge success and left fans eager for more from the artist. “Entergalctic” is the most audiences have heard as far as new music from Cudi, as mixtapes from the 2000s were brought to streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music in 2023.

In 2009, Cudi began his production of a trilogy of albums titled “Man on the Moon”, which gained him immediate attention. Cudi’s interpretive approach to melodic hip-hop, as well as psychedelic, trap, and electro-funk styles, is completely embodied throughout the new album.

“INSANO” is a blend of many genres from Cudi’s past projects, as well as his latest influences like Tyler, The Creator, Travis Scott, and Kendrick Lamar. Throughout the album, Cudi shares stories of his battles with mental health, but spotlights a lighter and more positive outlook to the hip-hop genre. Tracks like “KEEP BOUNCIN’”, “MOST AIN’T DENNIS”, and “AT THE PARTY” are classic Cudi melodies with newer sounds from producers like BNYX, SADPONY, and Pharrell Williams. Tracks like “FUNKY WIZARD SMOKE ”, “ELECTROWAVE BABY”, and “MR. COOLA ” are futuristic-trip style songs and show off Cudi’s experimental side to the album. “INSANO” is a breath of fresh air to Cudi’s discography and is the final album in Cudi’s contract with Republic Records.
