Currently, Coca-Cola is being confronted with accusations that the company has allegedly been reporting its workers in Texas to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). These accusations have spread all over social media, (TikTok, Instagram, Facebook) since early Feb. 2025, which has had a major influence on the “Latino Freeze Movement.”
What Is The Latino Freeze Movement?
The Latino Freeze Movement, according to Christine Sanchez at Spectrum Local News, is known to be a national spending boycott going against companies who have taken away DEI initiatives. This movement began late Jan. 2025, when president Donald Trump pledged to dismantle DEI attempts. The movement urged its contributors to restrict their spending only on essentials listed as: food, rent, gas, and medical care, as well as being very cautious on what companies they’re putting their money into.
How Did These Accusations Start?
The accusations began on a variety of social media platforms, but primarily TikTok. With influencers stating that Coca-Cola fired Latinx employees and reported them to ICE. They utilized the hashtag #LatinoFreeze to spread awareness. This is when many people advocated for there to be a boycott against Coca-Cola.
Did Coca-Cola Help ICE Target Immigration Workers?
Various sources like fortune.com, independent.co.uk, distractify.com, newsweek.com and reuters.com have stated that there is no evidence to support the rumor of Coca-Cola reporting its employees to ICE. According to fortune.com, when Coca-Cola was asked if they’ll be changing its “DEI policies to adhere to the president’s executive order,” Chief Financial Officer, John Murphy, spoke upon this matter. Stating that the company is, “focused on having the best talent around the world,” but additionally added it will “of course, follow any change in regulations at the national level.”

The actions that the people all around the world have taken towards these accusations are justified. They were told -no matter what way or form- that a company that they have trusted for many years had betrayed them. Out of anger and disappointment, they expressed those emotions. Whether it was targeting them by speaking out, creating propaganda, or any other sort of form. They just want themselves and others to be fully accepted and treated fairly.
