March 26th, 2026 marked the day Trump had implemented ICE agents into airports. While this was done out of the need to prevent undocumented immigrants, is it really the best place for them?
To get to the heart of the issue, and what the ICE agents themselves really think we picked an anonymous ICE agent from the crowd for an interview.
“Like, it’s just really scary, y’know, when I first became an ICE agent I didn’t even know you could fly to the US,” said ICE agent.
Despite the agents intimidating tactics, especially against Minnesota with its $65 million ransom, when reporters approached them they seemed very frightened and began to trot away, akin to when deer are alerted of a predator.
Upon asking the agent if he knew how people from overseas got to the United States, he said, “what? I don’t think I understand, I don’t think other places “overseas” really exist.” When asked to point to the US on a map the ICE agent had declined.
“Its interesting seeing so many different people here, I’m pretty sure they’re just making things up though, like, I’m not exactly sure what Puerto Rico is but it sounds pretty magical,” he explained.
During this time the airports had been suffering from massive chaos due to layoffs, both with delayed flights and massive TSA lines. In response to this, ICE agents assisting with TSA had taken to doing “warning shots” to whoever set off the metal detector.
“I don’t think it’s that crazy,” another agent had said, “they could be carrying guns, especially to the United States! That’s really dangerous, you know.”
Overall, reception from the ICE agents themselves is very mixed, but they seem to be enjoying themselves & will soon be removed from the airports once layoffs & airport chaos cools off.
