Music connects and can join everyone together, it’s like a bond that refuses to sever. The ties that some hold are because of their love for music, and how much joy it brings them. It’s a string that only grows stronger through others.
This applies to a variety of bands at LVA, but one in particular stands out. 54 Degrees North. So, what about this band makes it so special?
54 Degrees North was created by Deven Saliba, who plays a role as not only the drummer, but as the band manager, leader, and social media manager.
The band name was created by the guitarist and the drummer, on a Wikipedia page. While on Wikipedia, they found the name 54 Degrees North. The next day they came into their biology class, the name 54 degrees north was all over the wall, and that was how their band name was created.
The band is a team effort, and it takes more than person to practice and create a group effort. Isaac Sevransky, the bassist, joined the band because of his passion for music and his friendships, “I don’t care what instrument it is, as long as I can create music with people that are friends.”
Sevransky practices three times a week at a warehouse space that Saliba’s dad allows them to use while Saliba practices every day. While this band is great at their work, it’s very different on how they enjoy it.
Out of a scale of 1-10, Sevransky feels that the band is an 8, because while they do have ups and downs, “but at the end of the day they’re some of my best friends and I wouldn’t trade that for anything.” Saliba states “it has some ups and downs, but overall, it’s pretty good. I couldn’t give you a rating. It changes very frequently, but it’s nice.”
The opinions differ, but at the end of the day, these people are connected through their own kind of music, passion, and friendship. That’s what makes 54 Degrees North stand out so much.
