Welcome to Minute with Moukad, where you’ll get to learn a little more about LVA’s favorite business and marketing teacher, Mr. Moukad, in a quick one minute read!

What made you move from New York to Las Vegas?

“I lived in Brooklyn for 26 years, born and raised, I was into sales, I wanted to move to Phoenix and moved there for 12 years and then I moved to Vegas 7 years ago. What made me move to Phoenix, first my grandparents moved there, and I realized how much cheaper it is than NY. I became a teacher there and I thought I would stay there forever, but then I met Shelly. We got together and she talked about how it would be easier to get a promotion if we moved and how there was an opening in Florida. I was like, no I can’t teach there and then she said there’s an opening in Vegas and we moved there.”

If you weren’t a teacher what would you be doing right now?

“Something in business, marketing, sales, marketing management. Maybe hospitality too because I love helping people, so maybe instead of helping students, I’d be helping customers.”

What’s something you’re passionate about outside of school?

“Sunlight recently. The weather’s been nice, so hanging out in the backyard, going on hikes, going on walks. I also love going to the gym a couple times a week and I play chess daily.”

What is something people are often surprised to learn about you?

“How good looking I am. I think a lot of people see my name and think this guy is going to be ugly, and then they see me there like, oh my gosh, he’s extremely handsome.”

You are from Brooklyn, why aren’t you a New York Rangers hockey fan?

“I didn’t love hockey. I was more into basketball. And as I get older, I’m less into basketball. And when me and my wife Shelly moved to Vegas we just got adopted into the Knights culture. The Knights made us love hockey. We go to their games and root for them together.”
