Teahouses, alternatively tearooms, are small restaurants or cafés that revolve around a concept known as high tea, serving various herbal decoctions alongside bite-sized, savory snacks and miniature desserts.
The way these items are served are just as important as the way they taste, and the picturesque nature of towering, multi-tiered tea trays and eye-catching teapots are all the reasons for people to visit teahouses at all.
Las Vegas is no exception, and I found myself drawn to visit a few of the hottest tea spots (pun intended) in my city.
My first experience enjoying high tea was actually by proxy, where I had been invited by a good friend of mine to join her. Allow me to lay out the experience ahead:
The Tea Terrace
Excited, as this was my first experience in “going to tea”, I initially liked the aspects of dressing up and going somewhere so undeniably cute. The idea of “going to tea” by itself is so elegant, so excessive, and I adore it.
My first excursion to The Tea Terrace was delightful. As you enter, you’ll see a variety of clip-on hats to elevate your tearoom experience.
The overall setting is inviting and colorful, with decorative flowers hanging from the ceiling and a diverse selection of upholstered chairs sitting around the tables.
Browsing the menu, you can find a variety of selections for your course, including “Royal Tea,” “Queens Tea,” and of course, “High Tea.”
A standout was undeniably their teapots. In all shapes, sizes, designs, and colors, The Tea Terrace serves your favorite herbal blends alongside delicious scones and finger-foods.
The Tea Terrace is located at 6830 S Rainbow Blvd STE 140, and I’d definitely recommend giving it a try!
Coffee Religion
My next tearoom expedition was at Coffee Religion. Comparing this location to The Tea Terrace, it is significantly more casual. Although offering the same services, the Coffee Religion doubles as a cafe. Perfect for those who want a less extravagant and in-your-face tea experience.
The decor is rather simplistic and toned-down, which gives off the same elegance as all teahouses have, but without all the frills and ruffles.
Coffee Religion has a component that stuck out to me, which is their larger-than-life golden Buddha statue, located at the back of the store. My companions and I sat at the table closest to it, which has proved to be an undeniable conversation starter since!
Due to the addition of a cafe counter, Coffee Religion offers more options for meals, those including avocado toast and Cobb salad.
Overall, located at 5191 W Charleston Blvd Suite 185, Coffee Religion is a fantastic tearoom for those wanting the option of a quick bite to eat with coffee, as well.
In summary, I highly recommend dipping your feet (or crumpets) into the world of tearooms, and definitely give The Tea Terrace and Coffee Religion a shot!
