On December 17, 2025, Cookierun: Kingdom released update v6.12, called The Millennial Advent. The release included an event and feature story that introduced a new playable character, “Millennial Tree Cookie”.
The Millennial Advent story occurs after when Dark Enchantress Cookie invites the Beast Cookies to discuss their plans against the Ancient Heroes. Millennial Tree Cookie senses trouble from their actions, and therefore calls the Guardians of Nature to discuss and bless places where it is needed most. The Ancients met up in a counseling session to plan their infiltration against Dark Enchantress Cookie, and Met Millennial Tree Cookie and Wind Archer cookie after traveling back to Beast Yeast. The story showcased the backstory of Millennial Tree Cookie and Wind Archer Cookie, and Millennial Tree Cookie further helped the Ancients by breaking a magical barrier to Dark Enchantresses fortress.
Cookierun: Kingdom took a much different approach to Millennial Tree Cookie’s story than Cookierun: Ovenbreak, a runner game. Millennial Tree Cookie is one of the oldest legendary cookies, which has been present since the dawn of time according to Ovenbreak’s story. In Kingdom, Millennial Tree started out as a sapling who was nurtured by Wind Archer Cookie. This was startling to me and other players who were convinced that Millennial Tree is much older than Wind Archer Cookie However, what most people overlook is that Kingdom and Ovenbreak are two different games entirely with storylines that do not align. This makes the approach taken to the update more cohesive.
I also enjoyed the reunion of the Guardians of Nature. For example, Sea Fairy Cookie and Moonlight Cookie were able to see each other after years of yearning, in which their reactions were heartwarming. I wish they put more personality into the scenes with the legendary characters. Excluding Sea Fairy and Moonlight’s scene, they felt very mundane.
I believe that the writers of Kingdom are weak at writing the personalities of most legendary and lower rarity cookies, as most feel “one dimensional”. This can also be shown as the warriors of the Dark Cacao kingdom don’t put much thought into how they’re treated harshly by their king and instead feel like they blindly praise him.
It was nice seeing the Ancient Heroes come back to their kingdoms after their adventures in Beast Yeast, as their residents were excited to see them come back. We were able to grasp a more domestic approach to their lives in their kingdoms, even if that lasted a short while. The Ancient’s meet up at the council was an enjoyable segment, especially since we were able to experience a moment with Golden Cheese Cookie having a supposed panic attack, as she reminisces her memories of losing her kingdom due to the evil deeds made by Dark Enchantress Cookie as they wait for White Lily Cookie. It was an appropriate way to display her difficulties and emotions more, showing how White Lily Cookie and Dark Enchantress Cookie affect the Ancient Heroes in internal ways.
However, I do believe the writers put too much spotlight on the Ancient Heroes, especially since this story is supposed to focus on Millennial Tree Cookie. If we were able to read an extra segment of the chapter grasping more upon Millennial Tree Cookie’s personality, the chapter would be more suitable for the story’s theme. Overall, this story was heartwarming as we see many of the characters come back together, including the Creme Republic, the Ancient kingdoms, and the Legendaries. However it would be more enjoyable if more organization was put into the story. Regardless, this story was a very fun watch.
