Many assume or think Las Vegas is a bunch of casinos, gambling, bright lights, and entertainment. However, beyond the Strip, there’s much cultural diversity. This is shaped by communities from around the world. Areas such as Chinatown on Spring Mountain Rd, Historic Westside, and various Hispanic and other cultural neighborhoods reflect the deep cultural roots that exist within the city. These areas are a space where people preserve traditions, share heritage, be cohesive, and build connections together especially. Cultural businesses, restaurants, and community centers allow other individuals to embrace their own identity while also contributing to other districts in the city for decades to come.
The presence of cultural districts has positively impacted Las Vegas by establishing more production and building cultures from the community connections and support of economic growth. Local businesses are able to attract both residents and visitors, creating opportunities for cultural socialization, exchange, and understanding. With this, communities are able to provide support systems by people feeling accepted and comfortable in these environments. Especially for immigrants, creating a new evolution and fusion with Las Vegas over time. In addition, cultural clash can create social separation or groups as well, since certain groups will most likely interact less or distant with other outsiders. Despite this situation, Las Vegas is still growing and shall continue to represent diversity that can change within a shared culture or cohesive environment.
Ultimately, the cultural diversity of Las Vegas presents the different communities that can build a stronger group and deepen cultural connection with others. Cultural society holds heritage while contributing to other different identities, environment and characteristics. Las Vegas can showcase the diversity, advocate unity, understanding, social interaction/growth, and universal. The city indicates America’s strength comes from people uniting as a whole and continuing to thrive in the future from many different diversities.
