Cinnamon rolls can be pretty intimidating to attempt to make, especially for people new to baking. This recipe has similar flavors to cinnamon rolls but is beginner friendly, quick, and easy to make.
Here’s the list of ingredients:
- Yellow Cake Mix
- 1 Egg & 1 Cup Water (Depends on brands’ box instructions)
- 1 ½ stick of Softened Butter
- 1 Cup Brown Sugar
- 2 tbs Flour
- 1 tbs Cinnamon
- 1 Block of Cream Cheese
- 1 tbs Vanilla
- 1 Cup Powdered Sugar
Instructions:
- Prepare your cake batter according to the instructions on the box. I like to replace the water with milk to make the cake more moist and fluffy. However this is completely optional. You could also make a cake mix from scratch, but I find this method to be quicker for me.
- Preheat the oven to the temperature on the box from the cake mix.
- Grease an oven safe dish for your cake and pour in your batter.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the butter, brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon. This will create your cinnamon swirl!
- Scoop spoonfuls of your cinnamon swirl all over the top of your batter. Take a butter knife and do a repeated back and forth stroke up and down your cake. Do not mix it in circles otherwise it will become too incorporated.
- At this point you can put your cake in the oven and bake it as instructed on the cake mix box.
- While your cake is baking use a hand mixer to mix the cream cheese, vanilla, and powdered sugar.
- Let your cake cool and then frost it.
- Slice the cake and enjoy!!!
